Go Army!

It’s football season. So what better way to show your team spirit than with a tricked out truck to haul your squad’s gear? That’s what Navistar is doing to show their support for West Point cadets both on the field and in the field.

The Black Knights’ new ride is the star of a short promotional video shown at the school’s home football games. Manning produced the 30-second piece to generate excitement for the team, cadets and their fans.

Even though they’ve lost their first three home games so far, at least their gear arrived in style!

New York Times on Uncle Sam’s Attic

The New York Times’ politics blog “The Caucus” took a short break from the presidential race to plug the ABA’s Constitution Day game “Uncle Sam’s Attic” that we created (see previous “Happy Constitution Day” listing).

Happy Constitution Day!

September 17th is Constitution Day. It’s a day that we the people get to appreciate this important document. And no you don’t get the day off of work to celebrate.

For the past few years, we’ve had the honor of working with the American Bar Association’s Division for Public Eduction on interactive projects to educate students about the relevance of the U.S. Constitution in their lives.

In light of the presidential race, this year’s project deals with constitutional amendments that relate to the right to vote. It’s a scrapbook game, so check it out and see how well you know your rights!

Uncle Sam's Scrapbook GameYou can also sign the Constitution on this same site if you’re so inclined.  We got an Adobe Site of the Day award for our work on this one.

Clear Your Cache?

Periodically, we’ll get a panicked call from one of our clients (and sometimes from one of our co-workers) that a change we were supposed to make to a website didn’t happen.  Second guessing ourselves, we check on the site to find out we actuallycache did make that change.  So what happened?  As our title suggests, someone forgot to clear their browser’s cache.

Why does this happen?  Your web browser is designed to download pages and store them locally on your computer in an area called your “cache” (pronounced like Johnny Cash, not like the French “cash-shay”).  When you visit the same page for a second time to save download time it just pulls the page from its cache instead of downloading the whole page all over again.  So you don’t always get the most recent version of the site. So how do you clear your cache?  Each browser is a little different, but wikipedia keeps a “how to” list of a lot of browser caches and there’s always your browser’s handy-dandy “help” button.

Google’s Chrome – Will it Dethrone IE?

Earlier this week while everyone was still focused on Hurricane Gustav, news broke that sent the blogosphere into pandemonium. Fortunately, I’m not talking about the election. Google released the beta version of its new web browser Chrome.

Besides being beautiful and fast, in theory it should prevent applications in one tab from crashing another. But this brings me to a different discussion. Why are all Web browser icons circular in shape? Look at Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer and now Chrome. What’s that all about? And doesn’t the Chrome logo look like the game Simon?
