The Challenge
Some people think Twitter’s only uses are telling people what you had for lunch and stalking celebrities. Well, we believe there is hidden meaning in all those tweets. So we decided to create a web app that analyzes publicly available tweets to uncover hidden gift ideas on Amazon.com.The Solution
tweeSP uses recent tweets to gain insight into a Tweeter’s personality and interests. That information is then used to search the Amazon.com database to create a list of gift recommendations. All the user has to do is enter a Twitter handle and tweeSP does the rest.Validation of our idea came from within Twitter’s headquarters. Within a week of tweeSP’s launch, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams (@ev) tweeted about the project and the site took off, generating thousands of tweets from around the world and numerous mentions on influential blogs.
